Lifestyle & Nutrition

What we do and how we eat have a direct impact on our physical and emotional state. A patient’s lifestyle and dietary choices must be assessed as a part of complete intake and diagnostic work-up. Treatment plans may include specific guidance on how to optimize individual health and enhance treatment results through lifestyle-behavioral modifications and nutritional counseling.

Meridian Therapy

Physical techniques include Tuina massage, dry or wet cupping, Guasha, acupressure, and sound healing, dependent on the needs of individual patients. Meridian therapy is especially suitable for pediatric and adult patients who are intolerant to needles.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion (Moxa) is the traditional method of burning dried mugwort, Artemisia sp., on meridian points to warm the channels and improve circulation of Qi, or vital energy . Moxa has a deep tonic effect and is used in conditions of deficiency and depletion.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the art of inserting tiny needles into energy centers on the body’s meridian system to manipulate the flow of Qi. Conditions treated include fatigue, acute and chronic pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, infertility, and many more.

Botanical Medicine

Herbs have a deep penetrating effect, and are often necessary to enhance treatment success. Traditional methods of preparation include infusing loose leaves or flowering parts into boiled water, boiling a mixture of dried seeds or roots as a decoction, or rolling powdered plant matter into honey pills. Encapsulated extracts, freeze-dried powders, alcohol tinctures, or glycerine and honey extractions are more commonly used today. Patients may be prescribed herbal formulations, single herbs, or Homeopathic remedies, based on individual need and constitution.

Point Injection Therapy

A technique of injecting a therapeutic substance or solution directly into specific points on the body to promote healing, reduce pain, and improve function. Injection sites could include acupuncture points, trigger points (areas of muscle tightness), or injured tissue. Substances used may be vitamins or minerals, homeopathic preparations, saline or dextrose solutions. Treatments aims to promote circulation, and to stimulate the body’s healing process towards repair.
